Super Spring Aligner: A case study in Analog vs. Digital

The Super Spring Hawley retainer was designed to correct minor rotations of anterior teeth. It is a removable, self-activating appliance similar to other traditional spring retainers, but, because it is a more flexible design it will allow for a slightly greater degree of correction with one appliance.

A traditional spring retainer reset is usually limited to ½ mm of movement per tooth, whereas, with a Super Spring retainer the reset can be as much as 1 mm of movement per tooth. The teeth are cut out of the model and reset in wax, hopefully to an ‘ideal’ reset, within those parameters.
